What is the Pay Back Period of My Solar System?
Each system has a Pay Back Period which means the period of time in years to generate enough electricity and money from selling it back to the grid in order to equal the amount spent on the installation of the solar system.
It is very important to know what return you are getting on the amount of money you have spent on the system.
In our quotes we give our payback period. It is depending on the size of the system installed and the orientation of the system. Shading also has an effect in system generation.
Previously, solar systems had a payback period of around 10 to 12 years on your investment. The initial outlay was greater and you had a higher government rebate and a higher feed in tariff to get a high return on your solar generation.
With the cost of systems reducing it is even more affordable now to install a solar system. The payback period now is around 7 years for our new installations because the systems are so much cheaper to install.
